Some Tuesday Night Bike Rides go smoother than others. Tonight wasn’t one of those rides with “Bike Down” being the most used road call for the group. I’m not sure as to the exact number but I think we had over five bikes/riders go down…someone claimed it was the presence of so many beach cruisers. I’m thinking it’s the absence of personal bicycle maintenance.

But I did finally get to see a game of bike polo and that was awesome.

There is a Jacksonville Bike Polo group, so if these pictures inspire you to grab a mallet and bike, you have people with which to play. The rules of the game are pretty straight forward. It’s the execution that could cause you some cuts and bruises. Overall, it’s a fast-paced and competitive display of sweet hand-eye coordination and some killer maneuvering. I’m not sure I’ll be jumping on the court any time soon though…at least not with my fixed gear and drop downs…it’s not really a polo-ready bike.
