Our first day of traveling in Faridabad held a full itinerary. After seeing one of Joseph’s schools, we headed to a tent city where he his making headway with the inhabitants. He discovered this group of poverty-stricken families squatting on government land after rescuing a young boy of their’s as he suffered from heat stroke along the highway.

Joseph introduced us to the president of this “colony” and he expressed his desire for a school to be started for the children there. The parents were fully aware of the hopelessness of their own situation, but they knew that life could hold a better story for their children if education was a possibility.

The members of this community would bring together what little funds they could rummage up and buy water for their families. The water was transported in this old tank.

The kids were super intrigued by Cliff and his camera. They were more than willing to pose for pictures as long as they got to see the final result on the view finder.

Water, when it could be collected, was transported by the people in bottles of all shapes and sizes no matter what the previous liquid was as in this case. Not only is the water itself not suitable for drinking but the container holding it was previously used for harsh chemicals.
