Viatico is a small company and needed a quickly built website and identity. I didn't have much time to work out solutions, however I was allowed a lot of freedom by the client to develop out design. I pushed their identity toward a happier place with the use of the starfish symbol (versus their previous use of a hourglass) and utilized brighter colors throughout the website to set a lighter mood. Viatico deals in viatical settlement and needed a look that was professional but countered the sad reality of their job description.
The symbol of the starfish was to allude to the idea of overcoming hardship. Starfish can regenerate a limb after its loss. I liked how that could connect with a family being able to receive assistance based on what they've already invested while they are in the midst of turmoil caused by terminal illness .
